Mapleton is one of the best places to be based for your Sunshine Coast Holiday. Staying at Lilyponds means that you are within easy walking distance to the village of Mapleton and the Mapleton Tavern, just a few kilometers from some of the most spectacular views and waterfalls at Mapleton and Kondalilla National Parks. Mapleton Forest Reserve and Baroon Pocket Dam are the two ends of the Great Walks of the Sunshine Coast, a planned walking experience which will be around 45 km in length. The walk opened in 2006.

The village of Montville is a shopper’s delight with a superb range of gifts and ‘must have’ items. For those who can resist the temptation of the shopping, stop, relax and sample the excellent food and coffee while enjoying the views that only a hinterland can provide.

Maleny
is an excellent mixture of sights and sounds. In some places you could almost expect to see a horse tethered outside the shop, and right next door to smell incense and hear symbols. Maleny is a village which blends some exciting artisans showing their talents in oils, gold and frogs with a strong community spirit. Why not stay for lunch and take time to enjoy Maleny.

Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is well worth a visit. You can stroll through the reserve, which also has a wheelchair friendly walk, learn all about the plants and trees from the large interpretative centre and then relax and enjoy the views over the Glasshouse Mountains.

When you want a change from the hinterland, you can take a day trip to just about anywhere on the coast. If it is adventure you want then the Big Kart Track and Bungy Bullet may be your thing. The kids will love to visit
Aussie World, which is right next door to the Ettamogah Pub. If you want fresh ginger, why not go to the
Ginger Factory, or get some honey from the Super Bee and pineapples from the Big Pineapple. If markets are your choice of enjoyment, Eumundi Markets are a now on every Saturday and Wednesday.

No visit to the Sunshine Coast is complete without a look at the fish in Underwater World and the animals at the world famous Australia Zoo, where you might even get to see the daughter of the Crocodile Hunter – Bindi Irwin.

You can visit all parts of the coast and hinterland in a day and head back to the hills for a night of star gazing, made even better if the Mapleton Observatory is open for night viewing.

Why would you want to be anywhere else but at Lilyponds Holiday Park in Mapleton on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
